The party is too weak to handle any unrest?
The people have little to say?
More censorship?

In a nutshell: Yes, that's what I believe.

People should not protest?
Stupid people have no right to protest?
Food protest is allowed?

No, I did not "pop a vein". I believe in what I said.

The Chiense rulers have always had valid reasons to fear popular unrest and popular unrests have brought down every dynasty thus far and caused many bloody conflicts. There still are violent confrontations just over minor things.

I don't even think we in the West should engage in so many demonstrations and protests. Sometimes these demos pit one group with particular interests against another. They cause society to fray.

Sociali st tendencies in democracies for example have reduced social cohesion enormously. In France for example - where the Socialists ruled and where the Communists have been in the parliament for a century now, labour unions cause a lot of stress to society and the economy with their strikes. Almost every year major public utilities have to close down their services when employees go on strike. This year again, the national railways were affected - and so were millions of passengers and commuters.

I would of thought a person like you, would advocate the Chinese to speak out more.
Never would of ...

I do believe in dialogue, in open communication between the ruler and the ruled. But I don't believe Western-style protests would be beneficial to anyone here.

There is no contradiction when I say the Chinese people don't have proper avenues through which to express their dissatisfaction or frustration. These channels need to be created. The media fall far short of that. But why does the Party run so many offices and not one is created to collect the public's sentiments? There used to be special bureaus where citizens could lodge complaints over land-right abuses by local officials and such like but we know what happened: The office bearers ignored complainants who then went to Beijing to lodge complaints to the central government's petition office and were often rounded up and sent to "black prisons".

There you see what's wrong and why I say there is no avenue for people to articulate their grievances to the authorities. Such things as "black prisons" should not exist, and Uighurs who run bilingual websites to share their experiences with a wider public should not be persecuted - but they are.

The anti-China foreign crazies are out.
Is there any Chinese here, who wish to comment?

Oh thanks. I knew this thread was a setup to expose Westerners as "anti-China crazies".

As if the Party did not do such things often enough...

I think that's the end of this thread as far as I am concerned!

But you are an anti-China crazy. We all know that.
We all know in advance what you will write too. The cartoon of seneca is old and tired.
If capitalism promotes innovation and creativity then why aren't scientists and artists the richest people in a capitalist nation?

You never voice a view of your own.

Everyone knows where I stand.
Of course it's hard for the moniker seneca to keep up since it has been manned by countless
western propagandists over the years.

Which one are you?
