Li has reserved a seat in his taxi for his father ever since. While he waits or serves passengers, his elderly father will always be in the car and keep him company.

The son will pull over every now and then to give his father a little massage, or help him get out of the vehicle and take a short walk.

The pair usually have their lunch inside the car, and Li will buy his father some soft food that is easy to swallow.

Considering his father's needs, Li only picks up passengers for short-distance trips. The driver earns about 5 to 6 yuan (0.8-0.9 USD) per trip, with an income of 1,700 to 1,800 yuan per month.

Li said taking father in the car has given him unpleasant encounters, but most passengers, along with his peer taxi drivers, have shown kindness and understanding.

As today marks Father's Day, Li told journalists of Beijing News that he is willing to accompany his father as he ages, just as a song goes:

"You watched me grow up, and I will be there for you when you get old."

It's an ordinary but heart warming story as many Chinese children would do for their own parents too.

Chinese "Xiao" filial piety makes every single day as "Parent's Day".
