Have you seen the other responses? There are many, MANY anti-democrats in our forum, i.e. people w ...

""people who deny their fellow citizens the joys of and the right to democracy.""

You couldnt't get much sappier?
I was born and raised in the USA and their is nothing joyous about democracy which is warmed
over feudalism with a public relations department.
The west is made up of oligarchies. The rich own and rule all so called democracies.
If capitalism promotes innovation and creativity then why aren't scientists and artists the richest people in a capitalist nation?

1. According to Roger Scruton, a writer and philosopher at bbcdotcom: "Democracy is championed as a universal good by the West, but we over-estimate its power to guarantee personal and political freedom."

Despite being "the best innovator in the world" as claimed by Peter Kent Navarro, America seems to have no talent. It is incredible that not a single good presidential candidate could be found from a population of 327 millions. The fact that a failed businessman cum political misfit can be voted into power in America calls into question the effectiveness of democracy.

Trump's shocking election victory to rule 327 million Americans has brought disarray to the US government and the entire world.  Just imagine the global consequences if there is ever a nationwide election in China, and a "Chinese Donald Trump" is elected to rule one fifth of mankind. It simply means the end of the world.

2. According to editiondotcnndotcom,

(Begin excerpts)
But Russia is not alone in actively seeking to tarnish the institutions of American democracy -- Trump has acted in a similar way during his presidency, from his jibes at the judiciary to his feuds with intelligence agencies and declaration that the media is an enemy of the people. (End excerpts)

3. It seems that Russia has succeeded to foment mistrust in the institutions of democracy and government through its alleged support of Trump in the 2016 presidential election.  In view of the disarray of his administration, Trump is no different from, if not worse than, Saddam Hussein, Muammar Gaddafi or Bashar al-Assad, and is the type of stuff a US Democrat President particularly seeks to exterminate if he is ruling in Iraq, Libya or Syria.

In my opinion, there is no effective political system in the world. Even without the alleged Russian intervention to get Trump into the White House, it's just a matter of time a political misfit will be elected to the pinnacle of power in America to expose practically all the flaws of democracy.

That view is blatantly wrong. Of course, you can easily find "talent" in the USA. You can also find a potentially good president among the unelected millions of US citizens. They just failed to get nominated.

How would China recruit the best president if it were given an opportunity? DOes China have any talents? How do you evaluate these talents? Look what you have got! You have no choices. Your system is a lottery. You are lucky in having who you currently have for president.

But Donald Trump beat him in moving things in the Korean peninsula. No Chinese has ever been able to achieve that...
