Trump blinks first in trade war with China. The money was just too much to resist.

Now we get to see how his spin doctors try and show it in a different light.

72 hours is a long, long time to wait for a money hungry oligarch.
But Trump managed to while trying and cover his tracks.
It didn't work. Even if he had managed to wait three weeks the connection is obvious.

-------------
WASHINGTON – A mere 72 hours after the Chinese government agreed to put a half-billion dollars into an Indonesian project that will personally enrich Donald Trump, the president ordered a bailout for a Chinese-government-owned cellphone maker.

“President Xi of China, and I, are working together to give massive Chinese phone company, ZTE, a way to get back into business, fast,” Trump announced on Twitter Sunday morning. “Too many jobs in China lost. Commerce Department has been instructed to get it done!”

Trump did not mention in that tweet or its follow-ups that on Thursday, the developer of a theme park resort outside of Jakarta had signed a deal to receive as much as $500 million in Chinese government loans, as well as another $500 million from Chinese banks. Trump’s family business, the Trump Organization, has a deal to license the Trump name to the resort, which includes a golf course and hotels.

Trump, despite his promises to do so during the campaign, has not divested himself of his businesses, and continues to profit from them.

President Donald Trump has suggested that the U.S. and China’s trade relationship is bouncing back from years of unfair deals, telling Americans to “be cool, it will all work out.”

Trump made the comment in a tweet sent on Sunday, following an earlier message that informed his followers he was helping Chinese President Xi Jinping to improve the fortunes of phone company ZTE.

“China and the United States are working well together on trade, but past negotiations have been so one sided in favor of China, for so many years, that it is hard for them to make a deal that benefits both countries. But be cool, it will all work out!” he said.
-----------

But this deal benefits China and Trump, not China and the USA.
That is, unless the US government lifts its ban on ZTE cellphone use by US government agencies.

There’s also Qualcomm which derives 57% of its revenues from China, all because of ZTE, which is the largest manufacturer of telecom equipment based on CDMA technology invented by Qualcomm. CDMA is the lifeblood of Qualcomm which needs to diversify outside of its old 2G/3G CDMA technology by acquiring NXP, a deal that is dependent upon China’s approval. ZTE still sells lots of CDMA equipment to developing countries which included Iran and North Korea, currently in the crosshairs of US sanctions.

Qualcomm must have pulled some strings behind the scenes because the deal for the Indonesian theme park was sealed before Trump became President.

Are you sure he "blinked"?

I think I can agree with you for the first time in history: Donald Trump is an oligarch! He reportedly phoned his friend Jinping and wheedled a 500 million US$ injection to a holiday and golf resort under construction in Indonesia; that holiday resort has been in financial trouble and Donald Trump is linked to its US American investors.

He has broken the law on business ties that a US president is supposed to cut to hold office. And Jinping gladly obliged...

Says a lot about the two "superpowers", doesn't it?

Donald Trump "blinked"?  I did not see him blink at all.

According to credible news, he has engineered an unorthodox deal with his Chinese pal:  China will inject 500 million US$ into a Trump holiday &  golf resort in Indonesia that has hit a spot of financial trouble. After this favour has been done to D Trump's investment business ZTE will be given the green light to do business again... If you scratch an oligarch's back he will make you an oligarch in return...

Donald Trump is way smarter than to be that obvious in a quid pro quo 'deal' unless he wants Mr. Mueller to have another go at it.

ZTE is still in the docks, according to a high U.S. official today.

If the company had truly been given a slap on the wrist through Donald's intervention because of such a 'deal,' it will make Teapot Dome look like amateurish child play.
