The Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2018 is held from April 8 to 11 in Boao, Hainan province. President Xi Jinping will deliver a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the 4-day annual event. So far more than 2000 business leaders and government officials from over 60 countries and regions arrive in Boao to attend the forum. Given the uncertainty to the global economy and amid a tit-for tat trade war between China and US, what do you expect from Xi to assure continued development and prosperity?

The world is different from what used to be. But the US is unaware of the situation and holds the baton of hegemony. It is building wall, trade protection, immigration restriction, wars against other countries. This country just can't accept diversity of the world. It used to be a mighty, but now it is failing, it was on east river side, but 40 years later, it is on west river side. Feng Shui does turn around from time to time. This is rule of nature, no matter what China does.

President Xi is a vigorous defender of free trade and globalization. He is expected to further the reform and opening up policy in a bid to bring more benefits to the Chinese people as well as those from around the world. Free trade is good especially for the developing countries because, trade generally leads to more prosperity and growth and that, in turn, creates jobs and employment.
