(Shine) A man has been detained for impeding another car when driving, police said on Wednesday.

The motorist, surnamed Zhang, said he did it out of road rage.

The driver who was impeded when driving on Akesu Road in Jiading District during morning rush hours on Monday reported the incident to the police later that day.

Street surveillance cameras on Akesu Road, Jiading District, caught Zhang illegally changing lanes to cut in before another car.

Zhang was summoned to the police on Wednesday.

“I was in a bad mood and felt that I lost control of myself when that driver cut in before me,” he said. “I regret what I have done.”

Zhang was fined 600 yuan (US$95) with six points deducted from his driving license for illegal lane changing.

For his dangerous behavior, he could also face the criminal charge of “picking quarrels and provoking trouble” and up to five years in prison, police said.

If they apprehended every reckless motorist in China, the otorways would suddenly become obsolete and traffic lights could stop wasting energy. But are the cops willing? Sometimes the police engage in the same stupid behavior

This type of driving is very common in the USA. That is why there are so many "road rage" incidents in the USA.
After 1/2 year in China and many taxi rides I am amazed at the patients of drivers here.
During every taxi ride I've ever taken I've seen instances that would enrage a driver in the USA but the drivers here in China seem to take it in stride. I have only seen two instances that involved some horn blowing but never an obscene gesture which is so common in the USA.
You add in easily available handguns in the USA and you see why there are so many "road rage" killings in the USA.

* 37% of the aggressive driving incidents that occur involve at least one firearm.
* The person who is most susceptible to road rage is a male under the age of 19.
* 1 out of every 2 drivers who are the recipient of an aggressive behavior while they
are behind the wheel will respond in kind.
* Over a 7 year study period, there were over 200 murders associated directly to road rage.
* More than 12,000 preventable injuries have occurred because of road rage incidents that have occurred.
* 2% of those who have someone driving around them aggressively have admitted to trying to run
that car off of the road.
* 49% of road rage incidents are caused by a distracted driver or someone not paying attention.
* 44% of road rage is trigged by someone getting cut off.
If capitalism promotes innovation and creativity then why aren't scientists and artists the richest people in a capitalist nation?

Some drivers tend to ignore traffic regulations.

That happens in every country, without exception.  Some are worse than others though.
