Russian visa is easy to get. Just pay any travel agent and they will get it for you. If you wish to travel visa free that can also be done by taking a boat from Helsinki to St. Pete or by going to Russia to go see the World Cup this summer.

That may be true for Finns, or for travelers embarking from Helsinki, but elsewhere in Europe it is damn difficult to obtain a Russian visa. You have to go through the loops like in the bad old days booking hotels and the itinerary in advance. You cannot go from point A to point C without prior planning.

Not difficult for people with normal passports. 83 euros single entry or 130 euros one year multiple visa.

Again, you are speaking from the Finnish standpoint. My brother lives in Latvia and last time he went to St. Petersburg (ca. ten years ago), he had to obtain approval for the itinerary he chose to travel by car. He certainly has a "normal" passport, whatever that means to you. He has in fact two: One Australian, one European.
Last time I enquired - admittedly several years ago - everyone needed an invitation to Russia. Either from a hotel, travel agent or a Russian citizen.
