A big collection of rare photos captured by a group of American tourists who visited China in the 1980s has recently come to light.
The main author of the pictures, who is called Donald, was a U.S. soldier stationed in the Republic of Korea (ROK). He and his wife Glenda took a vacation every year. To commemorate the fifth anniversary of their wedding, they embarked on a journey to China with a tourist group in late 1981, as the nation – which had just started its reform and opening-up policy in the 1980s – was a fresh attraction.
