Capitalism equals unsafe air travel.
When money is the #1 priorty the safety of people takes a back seat.
After all, capitalists will do anything to turn a profit including using shabby equipment and poor supervision.
We can safely place the blame for poor Russian air safety at the feet of Gorbachev. The dunce who was asleep at the wheel
during the fall of the Soviet Union.

MOSCOW (AP) -- A Russian passenger plane believed to be carrying 71 people crashed Sunday afternoon near Moscow, shortly after takeoff from one of the city's airports. No survivors were immediately reported.

The An-148 regional jet disappeared from radar screens a few minutes after departing from Domodedovo Airport en route to the city of Orsk, some 1,500 kilometers (1,000 miles) southeast of Moscow. The plane reportedly belonged to Saratov Airlines, a Russian commercial carrier.
Plane fragments were found in the Ramenskoye area about 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the airport. Footage on state television showed them strewn across a snowy field with no buildings nearby. It was unclear if there were any casualties among people on the ground at the crash site.
Russia's Investigative Committee said all possible crash causes were being looked into.

Shabby equipment and poor supervision had plagued Russian civil aviation for years after the 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union, but its safety record has improved markedly in recent years.

No tragedy is too remote for Robert to capitalise on as n illustration of what goes wrong in CAPITALISM...

Shame on you  Robert! Under Soviet Communist misrule accidents like this were regular but seldom reported by the Communist media. And then, the Soviet Communists also built and launched their nuclear-powered submersibles that frequently went AWOL with their crews. And let us not talk about the accident-proneness of communist China - the thousands of mining workers that lost their lives in the bowels of the earth every year.

And, Robert, you need to don your think cap before you type comment such as:

'Shabby equipment and poor supervision had plagued civil aviation for years after the 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union, BUT ITS SAFETY RECORD HAS MARKEDLY IMPROVED IN RECENT YEARS."

Do you see what I see in your comment, Deer? I see a HUGE contradiction! Remember: Communism is kaput in Russia. It's an oligarchic kleptocratic and capitalistic country now.

Not reported.

As if the the west, with its massive spy network, wasn't capable of reporting them.

Oops. We have another passenger jet accident just today in the new capitalist Russia.

MOSCOW — Emergency teams combed the snowy fields outside Moscow on Monday, searching for debris from a crashed Russian airliner and the remains of the 71 people aboard it who died.

The An-148 twin-engine regional jet bound for Orsk in the southern Urals went down minutes after taking off from Moscow’s Domodedovo airport Sunday afternoon. All 65 passengers and 6 crew on board were killed.

Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov said the search for victims’ remains will take a week. He noted that emergency teams already have found the plane’s flight data recorder, which is crucial for determining the crash’s cause.

""Under Soviet Communist misrule accidents like this were regular but seldom reported by the Communist media.""

So you think the US, with its vast network of spies, couldn't have dug up dirt on Soviet air safety?

Face it, air travel is compromised when money is #1.
