"Maybe Mercedes should use quotes not from Dalai Lama if the promotion is in and for China."

The Germans have a lot to learn!  The dalai lama is seen in China as a its enemy, so the Chinese are very sensitive when asked to learn from the dalai.

You don't know my two cents worth on Tibet. Your rude post is totally off tangent and not conducive to a civilised discussion.

Unlike you, I hail from a First-World country. One of the distinguishing marks of it is that even obnoxious people such as you are allowed to give their views to the public. In jurisdictions run by thought coppers only the thought coppers and their masters' beliefs are publishable, no matter how rude and uncivilized their views are or the language in which their views are couched.

For example, Mao's statements can be quoted in a civilized country even though Mao was an arch enemy of the free world. We don't censor his sayings, no matter what we think about a man so violent to his own people or to the world. Why then is the Dalai Lama's body of wisdoms banned in China? The wisdom quoted by Mercedes has no political agenda. The man is respected throughout the world. He is unlike Mao who was guilty of starving to death millions of his compatriots.

Chinese students abroad often clash with their hosts Maybe the Chinese students abroad really need a better education before they enroll at a First-World college. We don't mind their parochial and nationalistic beliefs too much but we do mind being lectured to about what we should not publish or allow to be said. We have a wider horizon. That is what Chinese Instagram users need to learn. What do the Germans need to learn??? From China???

As far as I know, Dalai Lama is a title of religion of Tibetan clan, not a specific person in flesh.
The one Dalia Lama in mind who is hated (under the influence of some forces) is the 14th generation of such ranking.
Interestingly and ironically, the quotes that many Chinese, especilally those who are snobbish or like to show off, like to use, are from another Dalai Lama仓央嘉措, who is the 6th generation of the cadre system.
It is ridiculous for the people, especially the netizens who use illegal means to get access to Instagram, a forbidden site from mainland of China,  to do radical things like to seek apology or even to fight each other for winning a row, before the Chinese government voices its official comment. Like a saying online says, you consumers of gutter oil, mind how many bricks you can carry in a day, rather than the big affairs in the Central and South Sea.
