California has a huge supply of non-Caucasian citizens who serve as a counter-balance to Caucasian influence in America.  If California secedes, the proportion of Caucasian citizens in the remaining 49 states will increase greatly, allowing them to finally have the demographic power to bring forth a Caucasian nationalist nation.

Second, if California secedes, they will lose all the federal government funding/revenues, which is quite high due to the high productivity of the higher IQ Caucasians in the mainland.  California’s biggest demographic group are the Hispanics, and they have a very low median IQ of only 89, which is eleven points below average and close to mental retardation.  As such, their per capita GDP is almost nothing, so they are a net receiver of government spending, not a net contributor.  Without the federal funding, California will not have the money to pay for the Hispanics’ welfare, public resources, and prisons.

Third, realizing that California is going to secede and become a third-world poor Hispanic nation, all the big corporetions will preemptively leave California for the mainland.  All the technology companies will leave, such as Intel, AMD, at&t, Apple, Micron, and so forth.  The only industry that will be left in California is agriculture - a true third world country.

Forth, anyone with an IQ above 120 will also not want to remain in the poor crime-infested Hispanic third-world California since these smarter individuals will realize that with their higher IQs, they can get a good job in the first-world mainland America.  As such, all the physicians, dentists, scientists, optometrists, engineers, architects, lawyers, accountants, and other professionals will leave and give up their California citizenship.

Finally, California has enjoyed the privilege of being protected by the world's most powerful military, but after they secede and become a poor third-world Hispanic nation, they will no longer be able to afford a powerful military, nor will they have access to mainland America's best military technology.  As such, California's military will degrade to one no more powerful than Mexico's military, and will face the same threat all third-world nations face, which is constant invasions and infringements on their sovereignty.

Therefore, it is much more in the interest of California to stay in the United States than to secede.

I did read that counties in the hinterland of California want to secede and form the 51st state of the U.S.A.

The smart thing for the US to do is to sell California to China in order to pay off their national debt.
If capitalism promotes innovation and creativity then why aren't scientists and artists the richest people in a capitalist nation?

But how well do you know California?

You are seeing this through monochromatic socio-political lenses.

I was on a flight from NYC to LA and a Spanish gentleman was sitting next to me. We got to talking and I showed him the demographics, said to him that he would be able to get around in Spanish. That was last year, Hispanics made up 76% of the total population in Socal. Someone chimed in that in the next decade, it will be up to 90% Hispanics. They tend to push everyone out and there are some tension between Hispanics of different nationalities, those from Mexico not liking others from Honduras.

Some from the far left wing of the Democratic Party, the socalled "progressives", want to split California into several different states, the objective is to garner enough electoral votes[1],  but they soon realize that they will not get enough electoral votes to tip the balance in favor of the far-left wing whichever way they slice and dice California.

Secession is not a serious option. Socal is relatively poor, majority Hispanics but has enclaves of fabulously wealthy white Americans, and not just in and around Los Angeles. You would know where if you have ever lived in California.

San Francisco is enormously wealthy, the real estate price is through the roof, and if you are not working for one of the hi-tech companies, you probably wouldn't be able to afford to live there if you weren't bornt rich. The Nocal 1%-ters stretch from San Jose to Sacramento. But further north, the average[2] income drops and a lot of people depends on the Fed.

Also, bear in mind that Sonoma and Napa Counties are dependent on Hispanic labor. Most of the Californian wines come from these two counties. Not only is California is one of the world's biggest wine producer, Californian wines are worth over US$110 BILLION nationally[3]. California is also the "green grocer" of the US, that head of lettuce you just picked up at the corner supermaket is quite likely from California.

To summarize, Hispanic labor contributes a hulluva lot to the USAnian economy, so have a bit of respect for them. And NO, California will not and cannot secede.

[1]  USA is not a democracy, it is a representative republic. Voters don't vote for the president directly.
[2]  Emphasis is on average, not median, because of the skewered distribution of wealth in US.
