working on a tourist visa since,2009? why did china keep renewing his visa? he could not have gone b ...

Getting him to acknowledge that he had worked while having a tourist visa took a lot of time to ask and remind him to answer. It seems his employer finally managed to get him a work visa even though he possibly was not qualified to do the work.

I told him he should have tried to find a suitable employer while still in Hawaii and be officially invited to come to China. My suggestion fell on deaf ears.

He spent six or seven years in China and had a lot to complain - including "corrupt police", had fights with other people over toilets and so on.

That is very typical Chinese: ignorant people running companies and wanting to hire foreign faces... They must have a permit from the Labour Bureau to hire a foreign national.

If they don`t have that they must hire Chinese only. IT is that simple but still too complex for simple Chinese managers.

Why not, if we have nothing to hide

Fingerprinting
China has recently introduced a requirement for all foreign passport holders aged 14-70 years to have their fingerprints taken on arrival in China. This new process was introduced at Shenzhen airport in February 2017, and will be gradually rolled out at other points of entry around the country
