Japan actually is a perfect example of the west manipulating and screwing a country that is suppos ...

Another example of how the Capitalist West screws up non-Western countries is Russia. After the demise of the Soviet Union, Western Capitalists (together with Russian oligarchs) took turns looting Russia and left it for broke. So bad was the economic deprivation that life expectancy in Russia actually went down by five years!!! Putin literally saved Russia from being turned into yet another screwed-up Third World country.

I would be stupid to say that other countries (like China) should slavishly copy the civilization an ...

You will note that I included Japan in "the West". Yes, "Western ways" were forced on the Japanese elites (military and economic) by the US. But the Japanese have taken good advantage of this - and enjoy a very high standard of living. (Also South Korea (ROK), Taiwan and Singapore!)

In just a few decades, Meiji Japan had already achieved a high standard of living before it embarked on its imperialist course, long before the "West", namely the US, pacified Japan.

China is taking its own "route" to adopting the modern ways to prosperity and social justice. The process remains under the guidance of the Communist Party of China. But the CPC is an essentially "Western" organization. Socialism and Communism are, after-all, very "Western"!

Chinese Socialism is Asian not Western while Soviet Communism is Eastern not Western.

China should indeed take care to not copy the MISTAKES "the West" has made. Indeed, "the West" may benefit greatly from learning some lessons from China!

So to you it is Vladimir Putin who singlehandedly lifted the average lifespan of the deprived Russians... How much more can one's logic drift south than yours has done? Under Vladimir Putin things have in general become as you described them: oligarchs siphoning off the country's wealth. Vladimir Putin hiself is one of them. Does he owe his status  to "Western Capitalism"?????

Ridiculous.

"Chinese Socialism is Asian not W3stern while Soviet Communism is Eastern not Western..."

That's just playing with big ideas in the sand box. You can bury them in sand, but if you dig them up they are still invisible. They are not what you say they are. Socialism and Communism are ideas thought up by Westerners, not by Japanese, Chinese or Russians. But they had a devastating effect on the cultures of the Far East and the East Europeans. That comes from naively trusting messages of salvation trotted out by self-proclaimed revolutionaries that pass themselves off as prophets (Lenin) or deities (Mao).

China needs to be selectively open to the west, just as the west is China.

Crocodile tears for the Japanese suffering under the U.S. dollar yoke and the diktat to keep their yen strong? How fake and false! Should the Jpanese enjoy the same low-price status in export markets that China so skillfully exploits?

Why did the West have to insist that Japan revalue its currency? Because Japan, like China, is a relatively closed market. It's full of institutional and tariff barriers to prevent competition between foreign made goods and local ones. It is not a free market.
