Another year has passed since my last thread and in October it was time again to travel to the Tibet plateau. This time the journey led me via Lhasa to Shannan and Nyingchi prefectures of Tibet. It was a relatively short trip because all foreigners had to leave Tibet latest by Oct. 17th and were not permitted to return until Oct. 28th. This unforeseeable shortage of time for my Tibet trip resulted in an alternative which was one of the best places I've ever seen/visited in my life. Part two of the journey took place in Garze prefecture of Sichuan, precisely in Daocheng/Yading county.

The weather on the first part (Tibet) was ma, ma, fu, fu. Spoiled by past vacation under azure skies the alternative in 2017 was a bit disappointing. I knew from my previous travel to Nyingchi (2013) that the weather in Tibet's southeastern corner is often wet and cloudy with sometimes days or even weeks where the mountains cannot be seen like in other parts of the province. So it happened to me, that Namche Barwa, the magic mountain high above the Yarlung Tsampo Grand Canon was invisibe again (same as 4 years ago). Also a visit to Midui glacier was not exactly what I had hoped for. On the other hand the lush green and colorful forests along the way were a kind of consolation. I admired the landscape of this part of Tibet which is so entirely different from other parts.

On the 15th I used a flight from Linzhi airport to Chongqing (my first visit to this huge city (province) and one day later I took the early morning flight from Chongqing to Daocheng/Yading (DCY). Arriving at the world's highest airport (4.411m) I was surprised by the beautiful weather and the stunning views of 'Shangri La'. The driver who picked me up brought me safe to Yading where I stayed in a small Tibetan theme hotel. The next two days I was very busy with walking through this fairyland. I visited Pearl Lake at the foot of Mt. Chenresig as well as Milk Lake on the foot of Mt. Chana Dorjie and Jampelyang. When the time came to leave this beautiful place again I felt really empty in my heart. I want to come back again and see this natural wonder once again. Well, let me show you some pictures:
