The Economist is owned by British Capitalists.

That lifts its credibility sky-high above that of Chinese State-owned media outlets.

Indeed, the Economist (to which I subscribe) has a definite anti-socialist bias. I'm less negative about China's future. But, there are several major problems in China. 1. Democracy is coming very slowly. (This, I understand, because the large Chinese population is vulnerable to disorderly influences because wealth is insufficiently-shared.) 2. Complaints about social injustice, pollution, and poverty are being covered-up by encouraging aggressive nationalism. 3. Dangerous elements of a  dictatorial cult of "Xi-thought" are appearing. 4.The CPC doesn't yet have a sufficiently open and democratic structure. But perfection takes time! China will continue to rise despite these problems.
My problem is simple: I just know better than everyone-else!

I hate to disappoint you, sir. But I have to point out that   many members of China's intelligentsia  read The Economist with avidity, and they look up to The Economist's writers and editors, particularly their erudition and pukka writing skills.

The Economist is said to have become a must-read publication among Chinese college students as well; it's the leader in terms of sales on  Taobao on which some  shops shift the latest or old issues of The Economist

China Daily would be the most respectable newspaper in China if it could hire several writers away from The Economist.  Yet two things hold it back from hiring them. One is salary  and another one is ideology; the Economist's writers, who are all ballsy sorts,  wouldn't want to work for apparatchiks.

Is this a free trial run of The Economist? If so, how much does the subscription cost? I won't buy,  ...

It can be bought on Taobao in  China.

What about CNN? It’s not just state-iwned, CNN is tge nation’s capital.
Putin's a killer. This was the claim made by Fox News journalist; Bill O'Reilly during his recent interview with Donald Trump. Trump's reply came in the form of a simple question. What, you think our country's so innocent?

CNN is the Chinese people's most popular English language news source. I don't know why because it sure is not mine. Then again yes, I do understand - look at any Chinese news outlet and you will pity those who never watch foreign newsreels.
