That is the ugly future I see currently.
Most people really don't care about such matters.
As long ...

The rich like to put a "stigma" on socialism.
They will do ANYTHING to keep what they have.

Meanwhile the blue-collars in capitalistic Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Switzerland all have grown WEALTHIER, and they have kept their jobs. They too don't like Socialist lies and Utopias which they know have never worked and never can.

Under Capitalism...
robots would replace humans.
What will those displaced do?

You have not read up in the matter.

In EUROPE, the spectre of mass robotisation has always seeded the thoughts of people from all walks of life. Maybe three decades ago, someone came up with the proposition to give every able-bodied citizen a stipend at the State's expense. This stipend should enable people to meet basic needs.

But it should not entice them to stop working. In fact the more they work the better for them.

How would the stipend be financed?

It was anticipated that in the not-too-distant future most blue-collar workers would be out of their current jobs, so they would no longer contribute to the national tax revenue. Hence the government would have to collect money from the commercial owners of robots.

Neither the stipend for everyone nor the mass layoffs due to robotisations has come true. The stipend for everyone was proposed to the citizens of Switzerland and Finland. The Swiss voters rejected the proposal in a referendum ca. two years ago.

Can't argue with you there.
Capitalism has played a role in the rise in growth and prosperity in c ...

The poor are NOT needed to "provide for the rich". Poor people don't help ANYONE. Especially as, soon, most unskilled work can be done by machines (and robots). EVERYONE will be better-off when there's no more poverty.
My problem is simple: I just know better than everyone-else!

In a Capitalist system....
"No such thing as a free lunch".
When robots  take over menial work...
Who pays the displaced worker?
This worker would have the option to do "nothing"?

I don't think so.....
The "power" of Capitalism, exists only if it controls if your feed and housed (AKA poverty).

When poverty is eliminated in the world, is when there is world peace and that should be the bottom line humanity has yet to achieve.

The rich who fail to share enough of their wealth to keep effective consumer demand high enough to purchase production are condemning their OWN children to decreased corporate earnings and decreased profits. They may save some wealth TEMPORARILY, but, in the long run, the best thing for capitalists is to abolish poverty.

The "power" of capitalism is not "control". The real power is to be able to consume everything material you desire. And this can be best done when there is social peace and less conflict. "Controlling" an unhappy population costs money that could be better spent on enjoyment. Social conflict also causes anxiety and stress to the rich. They can reduce this by sharing more of their wealth.
