The educational authority of Jiangsu province issued a regulation on reducing the students' study workload. It stipulates that primary schools are forbidden to assign written homework for Grade 1 and 2 students, and the high school students should only be given within 2 hours of homework a night. How much time should students spend on homework?

I am a father. I agree with limiting homework to children not only in primary schools but also secondary ones. Because:
1. Children should learn during playing outside. Through obversing, smelling, touching by themselves could get more impressive but not just citing the monotonous texts. Although citing perfectly, they still don't know what the things are.
2. Homework should include few paperwork and more actrual experience. For instant, going to a museum or washing dishes should be included in the homework list instead of citing an article.

Again the authorities take a purely theoretical, quantitatige approach and overlook the deeper issues.

Reducing the quantity of exercises won't work. The schools will complain the targets cannot be met and the parents will be overwhelmed by having to entertain their kids in the homework-free spare time.

There should be better coordination between the teachers in allotting homework so that there is a balance.
