Huawei, Xiaimi and Baidu are all chisellers. They are only adept at nicking technology from American companies.

Nvidia, Intel, AMD ... all are tried, tested, and respected throughout the electronics and computing industries. Loongson ... not so much.

In economics one cannot be over-nationalistic or ethnicity driven or religiously driven. Common sense must prevail. Here is where 3/4 of South East Asians have seriously failed. In business, always rely on the best technique. Of course a nation needs to develop homegrown prowess but until that is attained its best to use any technology that's available even that of your rival's.

Had Alibaba used second graded technology maybe Alibaba would have been overtaken and replaced by its rival. That will be worse. Your Chinese tech chips won't make it to the surface and Alibaba also won't make it to the surface - in the end both end up being obsolete.

Ethnic and race based economy is bound to fail because of blinded loyalty. How is it possible to exercise meritocracy when the skin colour and religion takes precedence. In religious based economics, even if a guy is superbly dumb and idiot in economics will get to be appointed to the top post holding all the trillions in business because he is deemed "loyal enough to preserve the religion". That's the core of South East Asian economics and politics. They don't have the guts to work with others. South East Asia even had the luxury of the English and the Dutch as their mentors to cut short their learning curve but the fact that today apart from being famous for grooming terrorism that was exported from somewhere in Middle East, is there anything they can be proud of. Even today they are still trumpeting their religious loyalty blindly to the extent irrationality. Its hard for the South East Asians to reverse that.

Hence the Chinese and the Indochinese must learn from the far South East Asians' failures. At core is the cross-ethnicity society mix. This diversity is a path that needs to be crossed. Ethnic of Han, Mongol, Tibetan, Manchurian etc, should have no reservation donning another ethnic's culture. Respect must be the in-written rule. Don't put everything into written rule. Relationships cannot be built using written laws. How this should be encouraged is to have in-official arbitration centres made up of skills local people. Resolve cross-ethnicity issues by meting out reconciliatory and harmonious guided decisions. The path is slow but it is through education channels and social communication that such culture is developed. The resolve from the highest authority to achieve this must be strong.

When this cross-ethnicity relationship is strong the same is applicable for China to develop the same relationships with Russia in the north, Central Asian, Indochinese and the Filipinos. The idea is to lead by example - good ones that is.  Then influence the North Koreans to subscribe to this Han method before reaching out to the South Koreans, Japanese and the Indonesians. Its challenging but this will generate peace and prosperity.

Intel and AMD are considered "has-beens" because they have close to ZERO market share in smartphones which is ten times bigger than PCs. Intel is still in used as server chips in the data center but other CPUs are now being deployed such as Loongson CPUs.

Nothing else is go ...

China should create its own AI platform, from chipsets to servers, from datacenter to the cloud.

China should invest in R&D for MASSIVELY-PARALLEL PROCESSERS for AI, graphics, imaging, etc. and fund Chinese startups to design NPUs (Neural Processing Units), GPUs (Graphics Processing Units), IPUs (Imaging Processing Units), VPUs (Video Processing Units), SPU (Sensor Processing Units), etc.

Prove your statements, please. Just because they don't have any market share in smartphones doesn't mean they are "has-beens". For example, my 3-month old Acer laptop has both an Intel CPU, and GPU. The world does not revolve around smartphones.
