You must be new to China or else you wont be complaining about noise!  China is perhps the most noisy country in the world; there's noise everywhere and anytime.  Construction work is not the only source of noise;  people soeak loudly even ehrn talking with friends at close range, and when shouting into  their cellphones, in restaurants and coffeeshops irresponsible parents let their little ones push and pull chairs around like toys, creating a hell of a din, especially when the legs of the chairs are not padded!Take a walk down a shopping street and your ears woud be blasted by loudspeakers turned up full volume persuading you to dropping in and buy their products.
It's a pity, they do have a law on noise pollution, but like most other laws, it is not often enforced.
You can't hide from noise in China; perhaps the only quiet place is the graveyard!

China is the noisiest country in the world; they scream when talking to each otger, both face to face, and over the phone;  irresponsible parents let  their kids drag and push restaurant chairs,  creating a bloody loud noise; and louspeakers are turned up full blast at shop fronts promoting their products.
The only quiet place in China is the graveyard!

During my meeting this May with journalists representing the local government, I was asked if I had any suggestions pass on to the local government. One was no builders allowed to work during national holidays except for government projects, and for all building work to stop at 10pm. They understood, but said the problem is nobody likes to make a fuss over it, so it gets bypassed. Sometimes shop or restaurant owners send the builders in during the night, rather than lose a days earnings and close the shop during the day. Its quite selfish of them

For someone who has not been to countries other than Singapore and China, you come across as a person humongously conceited about your ignorance.

What about those that start drilling holes in your neighbour's walls, or hammer nails through some timber beams there?

At what time do you think they had to get up?

DOn't they have human rights?

If they have to arrive by underground train or bus they got nary a wink of sleep during the night...
