Bikes will not take over Chinese towns because Chinese towns are so inhospitable to people, pedestrians and bikers.

the combination of subway + shared bike is the best way to get one anywhere quick and safe, so it will surely reduce the need for cars.
just hope the gov will see this trend, and modify the roads to make them suitable for biking.

But biking is just recreational. It is not an alternative to cars. If it was, cars wouldn't be so po ...

I think it's being reversed now, biking will make a comeback while driving will become recreational in the foreseeable future.

cars  replaced bikes becoming the no1 transportation tool in cities, but with the traffic jams, high parking fees etc, cars are no longer the best choice.

in recent several years subway + shared bikes is fast becoming the best option when someone wants to get somewhere quick , many already sold their cars or leave their cars in car park, driving only on rest days.

Here's my reasons for why bikes won't replace cars:

1. Children, elderly and families can't use bikes.
2. Bad weather such as rain or cold weather with snow hinders the use of bikes.
3. Shoppers need someplace to put their stuff but bikes don't have any space.
4. Sick people can't ride bikes and need somebody to take them somewhere.
5. Travelers need someplace to put their luggage but bikes don't have any space.

Here's where bikes could replace cars:

1. Parks
2. Resorts
3. Beaches
4. Schools

You will never find biking popular among Asians. Why do you bring up white countries? We're talking about China.

The only exception is maybe Japan, but the Japanese don't consider themselves Asians.
