I am not the one shouting down or trying to ban posters because I don't like their views. I don't chase around the forum calling you a 'westbasher' given you've only ever posted negative views of western countries and western people.

I am curious that you seem to think that 'consideration for others' means that only your views or only views that are positive about experiences in China are acceptable but still reserving the right to bash other countries?

Yes, real name registration, then we maybe lucky to get rid of posters such as seneca

At least one poster who is honest enough to declare openly why he supports real name registration. To target and rid the forum of certain posters. But not all posters who display ge behavior as described by the OP. Only those with views considered not sympathetic to the CCTV notion that everything in China is perfect.

Oh and you don't even know what my political views are! So how you can claim that is beyond me!

Probably the best method would be to tie registration to a valid not for free email account and phone number, date of birth and physical address.   An email is then sent to the applicant to point the person to a secondary validation page where the information has to be re-entered.  Also verify the phone via a 4-6 digit code sent by SMS.  The use of an anti-robot alpha-numeric entry will help cut out some spam too.

Once this is done the user can use a pseudonym to post to the BBS.  Fail validation three times and that I/P will be locked out for 30 days.

Sorry, sunshine but Freedom of Speech means you have the right to say most anything you want to say without being penalized by the government. As long as you're not inciting crime, spewing out "fighting words", making true threats, or sharing obscenities like child porn.

It does not, as most people here seem to think, mean that you can say anything you want without consequence.

Most people do not use "not-for-free" email accounts. Also, if you think people are going to send a 4-6 digit code by phone to and from China, from another country, think again. This forum has members who do not live in China, and international SMS messaging is not widely popular, except on corporate accounts with company cellphones.
