The fight against corruption is ongoing, that much I agree, but it is a futile struggle because the fighter is also the perp, and the perp is forcing ever more commoners to tolerate corrupt practices. The campaigns against corruption really are window-dressing acts.

Question: where are China's "intellectuals"? Just having studied at a tertiary institute does not mean they are intellectually alert. They have a "higher education" but that higher education does not in general seem to empower them intellectually. So "elite" really only means "having the correct pedigree" - often obtained through bribes and other money transfers. Education after all is a consumer good that people think they can buy. At least that is what most in China are doing.

You should look up and do some research before you comment on this because what you say here is not true and factual. Anybody can just look it up and see your lies.

only in recent history--which is the Cultural Revolution. If you read the whole history of China, you will see that elites are treated quite well and contributed to the running of the country.

Perhaps, but is that more distant history really relevant in today's China? It happened under rule of past governments and ruling models, of which much has been wiped away, while CR happened under current rule. I argue that effects of CR continue to show in Chinese society even today.

Even now, the intellectual elites are running the show in the government.

Really, is that so? I'd say it is the political elite, and intellect has nothing to do with it. Just because they are the rulers and Chinese have no other choice, does not make it right to put them on such pedestal.
