10th of September marks Teachers' Day in China.

It is a time to show respectiveness, gratitude to teachers for their devotion.

Some parents will even bring gifts to teachers to show their respectiveness, gratitude to teachers.

Some worry that this will turn to bribery and lead to unfairness in education, teachers might care more of the kids whoes parents send more expensive gifts while ignore those who send cheapers gifts or no gifts at all.

After all, it is teachers' responsibility to teach and to devote.

What a boring subject! Every year since the CD forum has had an online version this question has been aired.

Why?

Decency militates against this. Why would parents have to make gifts to the teachers of their children?

Parents inevitably expect favours from these teachers. That is the "gift" the teachers must give their molly-coddled progeny.

Let us remember why China has a Teachers' Day: it is to bring back from death the old respect the young had for their instructors, be they parents or other adults in authority. Unfortunately, New China has destroyed the respect people used to have for teachers. You know how.

Authorities still do not show much respect to teachers.

Bad idea..
once you had over 1 gift, they will expect gifts all the time...
if you want something in life get off your backside, and do it yourself!! don't rely on others to do it for you

... and the parents will start getting addicted to buying gifts in bulk quantities which they then have to dump on the teachers.
