China evidently is encircling India. The Cold War is continuing under a new theme. Every country that borders on India, everyone except Bhutan, is now in Chinese pockets: Pakistan (the Indians are helping the Iranians build port facilities parallel to those the Chinese are constructing in Pakistan); Nepal (Nepal's police obey the Chinese P.S.B.; Chinese tourists are outnumbering other tourists); Sri Lanka (new harbor under construction by Chinese companies); Bangladesh (a reliable customer of Chinese arms suppliers), Burma (no need for details).

There is no such a country as the "Middle Kingdom", and none of the countries I listed are perfectly free in their choices. It's all about geopolitics, falling in line with the Chinese dinosaur or catching its fiery wrath.

China provoked this dispute with India over Bhutanese territory not just because of conflicts over land areas. It's also because India and China have conflicts built into their international aspirations. China still harbours a deep hostility that started over Afghanistan and india's rapproachment with the then Soviet Union.

I have replied two times to your query, Vic, but voice_cd did not like the contents of my posts. In a nutshell: the Party needs meaningful action in the international arena to comment appropriately on the performance of their current top dog before he bows out later this year...

IF, as India claims, Bhutan had asked it to intervene militarily against China's presence in Donglang, then Bhutan will have to repay China for its loss, in money or in land.  If Bhutan refuses, then it has equivalently invaded China by its Indian proxy, and thus, China has the right to take by force from Bhutan what Bhutan had taken by force from China.  The fact of the matter is that China probably does not have a superiority of force over there, and therefore, nobody respects its rights, no matter how right China is.  If this is the case, China can regain Donglang only by amassing a very large force, which would automatically win the argument without any fighting.
