The mainstream media consistently reaffirms that the Allies war games in South Korea will commence regardless of the protests of North Korea, on schedule, on August 21, 2017.  That is not a prediction, as nobody can predict the future.  Nor is it a statement of fact, as it has not yet transpired.  So, what is the basis of such a statement?  It can only be a command, to the officials in the allied coalition, to conduct the war games without question, without reconsideration, without thinking twice.

And, of course, the reason thought is no longer needed is because it is guaranteed to end in an unexpected (?) disaster for all the inhabitants of the Korean Peninsula, which will be transformed in short order into a post-nuclear world, and perhaps also neighboring Japan.

And after that, the superpowers will have no choice but confront the stark choices before them, to fight for the control over the Korean peninsula or end up fighting for their own survival if they fail in this task.  If two parties make "chicken" look insoluble, then five parties will make "chicken koop" look like an oodle of knotted noodles.  Definitely worse than a Gordian knot, waiting for the Sword of Damocles rather than Pericles, to cut asunder what mankind has woven together.

Unless the spirit of peace takes hold of the minds of the leaders, to resolve by mutual consent what they could never solve by mutual destruction.

But, as the MSM put it, the war "games" of August 21, 2017, must be held, and will be held, come hell or high water - and thus, hell will be coming in short order, judging from Kim's response to this scheduled event with his recent nuclear threats.

Nobody wants war.  But nobody can prevent it either.  We are trapped by the logic of the game.  It is a Prisoner's Dilemma, subtext Chicken.  They whom the gods wish to destroy, they first make mad.  This is madness with a method in it.

Tit-for-tat is the only way out of this quagmire.

The cautionary note is that the tit's and the tat's must be manageable, and not uncontrollable, if we are all to make it out of here.  Kim and Trump make too large tit's and tat's compared to their capital of peace and security.  Tone down the rhetoric but persist in the process is the way to untie this Gordian Knot.  The alternative is to cut it with Alexander's sword - conquest, with all the suffering it brings.

US should not drop bombs on North Korea. They should indeed drop rice bags and arms to North Korean cities. The people will rise up and boot Kim family and his Han imperialist from sacred Korean soil

Donglang is a part of China.  Doklam is not a part of India.  That says everything.

Doklam is part of Bhutan not India.

Looks like China is facing multiple checkmate across a chess board. US is such a pro. There is a checkmate on west and there is checkmate in East and there is a checkmate from the Sea

India's greedy overreach into Donglang can only end in failure, to one degree or another, as its current position is indefensible, logically, legally, or militarily.

If Modi is wise, he should ask Bhutan behind closed doors to dis-invite India from Donglang.

The alternative is to suffer a humiliating defeat at a time and place of China's choosing.

All parties should realize that the total collapse of North Korea will be more dangerous to every one, than a bull-headed Kim regime possessing some primitive type of nuclear technology.  In the former case, all major powers will end up fighting each other.  In the latter instance, Kim will be scared to attack any country on pain of experiencing total destruction himself.
