This naming and shaming before being charged or found guilty of any crime in Britain has gone on too long and must be stopped now. It could happen to anyone of us in here. Wrong place wrong time, and your life will be in ruins. It encourages vigilante groups who have in the past targeted the wrong man, because he has the same name as the accused!!

Perhaps they need a judge to dismiss any charges.

Not the case, in the UK unless things have changed in the past couple of years the police can drop charges against an individual provided there's new evidence or indisputable evidence of the accused being innocent.  The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) takes over and determines if a case is worthy of prosecution or not.

I'm surprised that there's not other surveillance video allowing a proper match of facial features. There's several cameras covering the bridge and approach from memory.

So this suspect was innocent after all. Police have confirmed they are still looking for the suspect. What a farce this American has had to go through that, and I am sure he will be bloody furious..
Feminists should back off and allow the government to change this disgraceful law of naming and shaming...

So the police did not release his name, but did they really need to arrest him at his work? could they not have asked him to attend the police station to present his passport? Mr Bellquist has received multiple death threats since the media splashed his name all over the papers, and now has to hire a bodyguard. I would think a lawsuit against the media for character assassination should be the 1st thing he does. Not sure if he can sue the police for wrongful arrest or not?
