China allocated 1.63 billion yuan (242.3 million U.S. dollars) of financial aid to encourage university students to join the army in 2016, according to the Ministry of Education (MOE) Sunday. The annual subsidy for each undergraduate will not exceed 8,000 yuan, and the sum for masters or doctoral students can reach up to 12,000 per capita each year, said the MOE. I mean why China invests huge sums of money to encourage students to join the army. Why shouldn't China implement compulsory military service? Many countries have compulsory military service. So can we implement something like this in China? Will it be of any benefit?

China's constitution states: " It is an honored Obligation of the citizens of the People's Republic of China to perform military service and to join the militia forces."

Therefore it is already legal obligation of all Chinese to do it, but China is not ruled by law.

Personally I think that China should amend that law and not implement universal conscription. Instead it should make military career an attractive employment option for the tens of millions who will soon be otherwise unemployed, and the few better educated to lead them.

And let everyone else go on with their studies, works, and families, to finance the military expenses.

Taking 1-2 years from life of young adults is not in best interest of the society - unless the country is preparing for war.

Yes, Complusory Military Service for all able citizens will instill in them the concept of responsibility and duty as citizens!
At the same time, many infrastructure projects could be implemented using this wealth manpower.
To have a nation with military readiness ensure that no nation would think about tempering with China on all issues.

Incorrect!
The policy could be one that attracts top talents to the military to serve the nation better at low cost and increase productivity!

China's constitution states: " It is an honored Obligation of the citizens of the People's Republic  ...

This is good! It will produce a large pool of talents from which top talents could be selected through thorough selection for top government posts.
Those with good talents and good test scores would be rewarded.
This will give all citizens fair and equal opportunities for them to prove themselves, rather than base on recommendations and relationship to top government officials.
All this will put a stop to that kind of nonsense for good!
