Mobike, one of China’s largest bike-sharing companies, will launch in Manchester and Salford, its first cities outside of Asia. The service is slated to arrive on June 29, the Beijing-headquartered company said, and will start with 1,000 bikes. Users will have to download an app that allows riders to unlock an available GPS-enabled bike by scanning a QR code on the bicycle. After finishing their trip, the cyclist will manually lock the bike and leave it in an authorized parking location. This means users do not need to return them to specific docking stations. But will problems such as bike theft, vandalism and indiscriminate parking happen in the UK? If yes, how will the company address them?
