New Trump $1 trillion infrastructure push, 'We're like a Third World nation'
by Paul Bedard | Washington Examiner | May 1, 2017, 8:52 AM

President Trump is stepping up his push for infrastructure spending, and he's using China's slick new roads and airports as an example of what he wants.

"What China's done is incredible," the president told conservative journalists. "We're like a Third World nation," he added of U.S. transportation.

"We build a bridge and it's like a miracle in this country," he added.

The president campaigned on spending $1 trillion on infrastructure, but he expressed frustration in moving forward with that plan and mocked the $6 trillion spent to fix up Iraq, Afghanistan and other Middle East nations.

"We've spent $6 trillion in the Middle East," he said in a renewed push for his plan, and "it's 20 times worse than when we started."

Trump cited the experiences of a friend and trucking company owner who complains that U.S. roads are tearing up his equipment. "Our roads are crumbling," the president told the journalists.

"Isn't it sad that we can [waste] $6 trillion" in the Middle East, "and in this country we can't find $1 trillion," he concluded.

What the Chinese have done is not so incredible. They had a creaking, groaning infrastructure of sorts twenty years ago and have finally put in place one that the N Americans had a century ago. Finally China is as developed on its surface as the West was three, four generations before.

The Chinese also are good at cooking the books. No one knows how much their transformation has cost the nation because the land is the property of the Party, the construction companies are run by the Party, the mayors are members of the Party.

When China does construction work abroad, it quickly runs into trouble. Mexico cancelled a Chinese railway construction project; Indonesia's new railway line was stalled for over one year; Lao's was postponed for nearly ten years. All because of poor planning and opaqwue calculations.

Hopeless case the lad is.

Hating China for harming his 'most wonderful country' South Africa.

Next thing he's settling in CHINA
