Hongkongers drive on the left side of the road and by HK law, that is the correct side; on the Mainland side of the border they have to switch to the other side to be complying with the law.

By the way, it is the same with Macau. The Portuguese there adopted the British road code because they imported most cars via Hong Kong.

If they drive the same car in both HK and mainland China they need two number plates
