China maintained its position as the World's largest goods exporter in 2016, a Ministry of Commerce statement said Thursday, citing data from the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Accounting for 13.2 percent of the world's total in value, China's goods exports topped 2.1 trillion U.S. dollars last year, in contrast to 1.6 trillion dollars in imports, the statement said.

This is the eighth consecutive year China has kept its position as the world's largest goods exporter and the second largest importer.

World goods exports declined 3.3 percent year on year in 2016 to 15.5 trillion dollars, it said.

In 2017, global trade is likely to grow by 2.4 percent year on year despite uncertainties, according to the WTO.

China's exports and imports have leapfrogged in decades of reforms and opening-up, especially after China's entry into the WTO in 2001.

CSR Sifang America, a subsidiary of China Railway Rolling Stock Corp (CRRC), has been awarded a $1.3 billion contract to supply up to 846 new 7000-series railcars for the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA).

The company said on Wednesday that it will also build a new railcar assembly facility in the Windy City, representing an investment of $40 million, and will generate about 170 jobs.

The statistics is precisely correct!
Reason is most countries in the world are under developing stage. China has taken the sole lead responsibility to produce at acceptably price range to help provide their sundries. Had G7 produce these developing countries could not afford to import.
