It is much more difficult for foreigners to learn to write than to listen and speak. They just cannot figure out how to write a Chinese character. So the first step is listening and speaking. Writing comes later.

Agree with you in all aspects.
However, there are some Chinese characters which are simple and could be used to start learning to write them. Examples are, 'ren' for person; 'tian' for sky and farming plot of land, 'li' for strength and 'niu' for cow'.

Please avoid listening to senece. He brags most. In fact, he is an EMPTY VESSEL MAKING THE MOST NOISE!
