Sorry, got to disagree, buying paper money and burning them causes air pollution, which is already ...

But they could be made to burn "digital money" instead of paper money. Believe it or not, paper currency will become obsolete sometime in the 21st century. So burning paper money likewise can be "modernized" by making it digital and linking it with a social charity.

Learn to RESPECT local cultural customs in China at least although we don't expect you to understand ...

"...respect local culture..." ?

I do not think this is a "local culture". It is a custom made national and highly uniform by unthinking people who merely imitate the acts they witness somewhere else in China. I do think there can be different local funeral customs but this one is not localised; it is nationalised.

An example of "local culture" might be the Mosuo's cultural features revolving around matrilinear house ownership rights. osuo women do not marry; they sleep with males of their own free choosing. The women own the houses; the men live in their mothers' homes. The women are physically stronger than the males because they also do heavy work in and around the house and in the fields.

Do the Chinese authorities tolerate their culture? They have been repeatedly served notice to abolish their wayward manners and to conform to Chinese national customs including monogamous marriages.

Ironically, Chinese males are flocking to Lake Lugu in SW China in search of Mosuo women for one-night stands. osuo women are NOT promiscuous as such; they have strict criteria by which they choose their sleeping partners. Result: Chinese women have oved to Lake Lugu and, dressed in MOsuo garb, offer their seksual services as "Mosuo geishas".

WeChat already offers "red envelopes" in digital form.
It's only a matter of time before they offer "paper money".

In the case of red envelopes, you would give them to someone alive as a sign of your gratitude.
In the case of paper money, you would offer them to someone deceased as a sign of your respect.
There's no difference to using both kinds of digital gifts because they only differ in purpose.

Seriously it should be evolved into real business opportunities.  This is I am concerned of.

An even bigger opportunity waits around the corner for those enterprising young things such as you who know how to wake up the dead and know how to tell them how important it is to give to the living. The give-and-take should be a two-way road.
