True,
but this is not the kids fault, but bad parenting and our endless advertising.
I need to pay ...

if you want something in life get off your backside, and do it yourself!! don't rely on others to do it for you

Christmas was originally a pagan festival which involved a lot of eating, drinking, and fornicating. The Church made it into a religious holiday.

Perhaps we in the "West" ought to reciprocate, and ban Chinese festivals ...

Stupid people are like Glowsticks. You want to snap them in half and shake the crap out of them until they see the light.

The artificial banning of "western" festivals (Christmas originated in the Middle East, not the West) will have little effect as long as the world's people are interested in western ideas because they represent modernity.
My problem is simple: I just know better than everyone-else!

Whether anyone likes it or not we live in a multi-cultural world where travel makes possible experiences of other cultures. Chinese find some western traditions very appealing, such as Christmas and Halloween and Easter. These have little to do with religion, but ideas and attitudes familiar to Chinese culture.... family, gifts, music and decorations, ghosts, procreation and the environment. There is little enjoyment in the education practices of China, so using these to encourage learning and the enjoyment of learning is valuable; the value of the family, respect for others and the beliefs of others, respect for ancestors and the constant renewal of life.   But here we are again.... BAN it all.... it is easier than managing and exploiting it!

Ban holidays. Impose a work-for-your-survival duty on every Chinese person aged 3 years to 99 years.

Addendum: Businesses will always try to take advantage of opportunities for making money, whatever the people want/need. The danger is in profiteering at the expense of popular opinion and needs..... as with all things.
