Because of medical progress for better health, there will be more and more aging peoples in years to come and their needs are 365 days a year so that 8-10 days paid leave for their children to take care of them will only be token duty towards exercising filial piety. We need more practical solutions under a more holistic umbrella of social care.|
One, start a national center to monitor aging demographics in all provinces. It will receive, analyze and publish data to improve policies into the future as well as be a reference databank of needs and available support for each household where aging peoples live; it will also run live tv and other programs for the elderly on what to do in case of emergencies, how to use assisting tools and technologies, and how to maintain their general health.
Two, start a national insurance scheme for the aged that will be funded by contributions from themselves and their children from age 40 onward; extra funds for the insurance fund can be earned from investments;
Three, construct a computer program that will match the daily needs of an elderly with the social support s.he can receive; the program can be customized for each case to bespoke precise solutions scalable over time as needs change with age year; it will also have algorithms that can quickly identify any mismatch of needs versus solutions;
Four, develop a completely new industry that caters to the needs of the elderly; this can include robotics helpers, mobility aids like motorized wheelchairs, seeing and hearing aids, medical and comfort consumables, and even e-warehouse supplied medicines delivered by fast post or collectable from specific centers, with all such services shareable in their immediate neighborhood and supported by a nationally branded army of social workers paid out of the national insurance fund; jobs will be created, technologies will be invented, businesses will thrive, and the elderly will be provided for that will in turn free the young to earn as much as they can while knowing their elderly parents will receive some support as-is-where-is if they happen not to be in the same city, town or village; by such standardization, fake meds and services can also be weaned off, saving households and state funds while delivering effective care on time and within budget;
Five, start a elderly workforce program to keep each aged person mentally and physically occupied even for a few hours a day in useful activities that will keep them away from loneliness and depression; this can spin cottage industries and even help make new work tools catering for elderly use while earning them some income to bolster their sense of self-worth from continued productivity.
Six, by reversing the relationship, get one student to adopt one aging person; this means visits, talks and keeping company for a few hours a week; the student will maintain an e-diary to share notes across the nation, get to see how s.he her/himself can become later in life, and get a perspective to bypass depressive personal questions about purpose of life.
Seventh, do all these with military precision and socialist iron will.
