Gong Hanlin, a national-level actor, proposed that we Chinese people should adhere to cultural self-confidence for the dissemination of Chinese culture all over world.  When we make a global film, we must preserve the flavor of fish, so to speak, i.e. the Chinese elements that culturally identify us. But nowadays, there are few original films in China. What are reasons that led to such a result?

Chinese Government did NOT build up an equivalent of Hollywood to use it as an advertising platform.

After all, said holly wood is the ultimate free add worldwide and the attacked pay for a viewing.

Chinese movies are by regulations prevented from touching sensitive topics, while foreign movies are not. So its all flying ninjas and monkeys here.

You say:  Chinese movies are by regulations prevented from touching sensitive topics, while foreign movies are not.

Hmm,
Holywood  never touches internal  sensitive topics.
Holywod is run by agencies...

Note that OP never mentioned Hollywood.

Hollywood is home to blockbuster entertainment movies, but not home to serious movies that take critical view in world or events occurring within. USA for example has lot of film makers who are critical of their own country, but they operate with small budgets and most Chinese will never hear of those movies.

Cultural self-confidence would be to pick up themes from your own culture that do not necessarily create blockbuster hit movies, but movies that are important to make.

Chnese identify their own culture by certain elements, but those are not necessarily same defining elements by which foreigners identify China.

For example events in late 80s in Beijing are not much more than a footnote in Chinese study books, while in foreigners' eyes those events defined China for decades to come, and continue to do so.

Same applies to movies.

If China wants to attract foreign movie goers, it must make movies increasingly not from Chinese perspective (which as I said is heavily regulated), and instead include topics which foreigners consider defining in China or Chinese culture.

For example, is there Chinese movie that focuses on early Chinese migrants to USA (perhaps during the "wild west" era)? Certainly lot of drama could be picked from such source.

you know why Chinese movies look so dull , because they control the feeling .the emotion . and the audiences  . you happy or sad ,you like or not , what do you feel after watching . everything they try to control . and most of them are just idiots and asshole .
