龙(pinyin: long),a spirit, occupies an important place in the Chinese culture. It is a symbol of authority, the crystallization of Chinese wisdom and experience, and the message of peace.  Dragon, however, is a monster in the west, which means danger, terror, pain and hate. At the beginning of nineteenth century, the British missionary Morrison translated 龙 into dragon and the translation error comes down the ages. For Chiness cultural and national image, Yue Chong from CPPCC, advised that 龙 should be translated as loong and dragon should be 拽根 by transliteration strategy. Is it necessray for translators to render dragon and 龙 again?
