Cost is relative. The same product may cost more for either one of them or others. At times, it do ...
"Cost is relative."
Not true. cost is everything to all world powers.
Example: if it weren't for the limitations of funds, China would have caught up with the West technologically from way back, way way back, in the 60's and 70's, as China was very ambitious at the time, and the brains but not the toolings or the funds, to do it.
At the time, China was on its so called A-12 fighter program which is of a delta configuration, a cross between a Viggen and a Mirage-2000.
Then there's the B-13, a fighter bomber reminiscent that of a marriage between a MiG-23 and a Panava Tornado with variable swepts and all.
The Y-10, a perfect replication of Boeing's 707 airliner powered by six, yes 6 engines, where the Chinese connivingly attempted to turn into a long range bomber much like the B-52. All of these programs got shelved because they ran out of funding.
Reason for the lack of funding: Moscow had demanded full and complete payment for all of the MiG-15's, the AK4s, the machines guns, bullets, the grenades, etc., China bought from the USSR in support of its war efforts in the Korean War coupled with an additional problem: Russia threatened to nuke China at the time therefore the Russian front overrides all things important forcing China to settle for J-5, J-6, J-7, Q-5, and J-8 stop gaps to keep both Russia and the US at bay.
Another fine example where cost is a factor: if it weren't for Russia's (USSR one and same) raning out of funds, bankrupt in other words, because Moscow needs to support its war efforts in Afghanistan, the former USSR would have never come to the collapse it did. The greatest insult to Russia, ever, as Putin put it. If the USSR survived, Vladimir Putin would have been the President of the USSR, not Russian federation as we know it, rather than President Court-Marshall-Michael-Gorbachev and, as culturally as it is Russian, he (Putin) would reined over Russia until the day he die rather than to have to go through these silly public election process which is the dirtiest as was the case with the massive media attacks on Trump.
Imperial Japan probably lost the war "NOT" because of Big Man and Little Boy (both are war crimes against humanity my opinion - if Helsinki and the Hague is any kind of an international law as so many of you brags about it if and when it serves your interests) but more precisely its because Imperial Japan, which have limited resources, had already over-expanded its resources in it massive expansion into Asia and hence can't economically continue with the costly war effort and would have called for a cease fire with or without Big Boy and Little Man as a variable as its forced surrender.
Similar can be said of Hitler's Germany. Hitler's war effort with England (which means Anglo nations worldwide); his war effort with France (which means French dominions worldwide); with Austria; Poland; other countries in its eastern front, Russia; Middle East; other African states; and of course the US; it (war efforts) was way too vast for Hitler to effectively and efficiently maintain and that is why Hitler ultimately lost - human greed overrides all human desires...
If in doubt 'bout what I say, simply ask the US what it cost them for both the Korean and the Vietnam war.
