What civil engineering feats on international soil canbe attributed to the Chinese?

They have just built a railway (much to your disgust) in Africa.
(mostly harmless)

They have just completed a railway (much to your disgust at a guess) in Africa.

It's not the system's fault; it is the culture's.

The system has its own negitive culture

I know a good deal about Chinese engineering in Africa; the first railway built by China was in the 1970s, Dee:rie, and it was a relative marvel. I travelled on it.

The trouble is that China is only interrestedinmoney and politics. It buildsrailways that indebt their client partners in perpetuity The first railway builtby the Chinese has still not paid itself off in four decades and in fact was on the brink of bankruptcy two years back.

Why do you say "...mch to your disgust..."?

I know Africa's railways - I travelled by train in East Africa, South Africa, Botswana, and from Lubumbashi to Ilebo in Congo.I have no objection to railways being built in Africa - but I know Africans cannot afford  them.

The most recent addition toAfrica'srailways is the AddisAbbaba to Djibouti line. We shall see if it goes the same way as the TaZaRa. The Chinese essentially do what the Brits tried to do - connecting Cape Town with Cairo. It shows colonialist designs though the Africans are China's partners whereas in Cecil Rhode's time the Brits, Germans, Belgians and French decied things all by themselves.

The rote-learning culture predates the Communist culture.

While China may not be inundated with brilliant people the talent that she has created appears to  ...

Don't you think China needs talent that can design soft cultural products, make China an altogether more livale, more enjoyable, more humane place??? On one hand the Chinese  fly people in outer space and plan to visit Mars; on the other they can't design roads fit to handle the traffic volumes  that ordinarily use their infrastructure.
