Now that the ruling is going against them they say the won't adhere to that decision.

This is no ...

China has already come out and said they will not abide by the NCLOS ruling.

Yes it is territorial expansion and not protection of sovereignty. Six of China’s neighbors, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam, have overlapping claims with China on parts of the South China Sea. Hence this is why the Philippines filed arbitration 3 years ago with UNCLOS.

Since the end of the Second World War, China has been redrawing its maps, redefining borders, manufacturing historical evidence, using force to create new territorial realities, renaming islands, and seeking to impose its version of history on the waters of the region.

China signed UNCLOS and now is reneging. China’s claim that it can legally ignore the pending arb ...

China signed UNCLOS with a qualification on matters of sovereignty. Further the tribunal have no jurisdiction in this matter as there is only one submission and outside their remit. Any judgement they make is not legally enforceable and, I strongly believe, would be biased in favour of American agendas.

However, it seems that the latest Philippine president is of higher political standing than his predecessor so is more inclined to renter discussions with China than to fall for the proxy war trick in return for beads and mirrors supplied by Washington.

Meanwhile I am still trying to figure out how the Philippine constitution clearly defined the extent of their territory and it didn't include any of the territory currently in dispute. It took a change to their constitution in 1987 before they could make any territorial claims and the Chinese government had already ratified China's claims when they came to power some 40 years earlier.

You are not accurate again. Since after the WW2, the territories and sovereignty of China were not challenged until the 1970s thereabouts. The neighbouring countries disputing against China are just being greedy. They have occupied the disputed islands out of greed for resources and thinking that China is far away, China is powerless to intervene.

Since the end of the Second World War, China has been redrawing its maps, redefining borders, manufacturing historical evidence, using force to create new territorial realities, renaming islands, and seeking to impose its version of history on the waters of the region.

How did you come to such a conclusion? Did you write your own history or did you read some fantasy?
