They maintain zoos in Europe to study animal behaviour and biology. Today zoos are a kind of public parks, but essentially they were once set up for the purpose of studying exotic creatures. Many zoos are attached to universities even today.

It amazes me almost into a coma that jim9 can defend some of the most barbaric cruelties to animals in China and make light of it. DOes that prove he is a supporter of China's inexorable rise as a civilised nation?
