Yes I do. It has long been ignored as a serious foreign language, partly because it is seen as too difficult. I have never been good at languages but I really enjoy learning Chinese. It has given me insight into the culture of China and I have enjoyed my visits there far more.

Sure trains the memory. But one gets into the habit of memorizing things. Does that explain a  somewhat lack of  creativity ?

No.
For speakers of alpha-numeric languages, which is Western Europe, North America, South America (a lot of Spanish and Portuguese speakers), Australia/New Zealand, English is a lot easier for non-English speakers to learn.
English is also the international language of business
It would be difficult to change this.

Japanese was seen as the an important language previously, but it never caught on internationally for the same reasons Chinese won't.
Even in China, there is a very high percentage (at least 40%) of the people who can not speak Putonghua.
there are tens of thousands of different characters, the average Chinese person knows 4000.

the average native English speaker knows 30,000 words

Spanish will probably be spoken more as a second global language.
