Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has noted the safety of vaccines development by China's biopharmaceutical companies, defending his government's decision to buy Chinese vaccines.

Duterte said in a late-night televised national address on Monday that China's vaccines, including those from Sinovac and Sinopharm, are being used in Indonesia, Turkey, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil and that there have been no deaths reported so far.

Duterte said on the same occasion last week that the Chinese vaccines are "safe, sure, and secure."

The Philippine government has said that it has secured 25 million doses of Sinovac-developed CoronaVac vaccines, which is seeking an emergency use authorization (EUA) from the Food and Drug Administration of the Philippines.

The Philippines is in talks with at least seven vaccine makers to procure 148 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines in 2021.

It aims to vaccinate 50 million to 70 million people, or more than 60 percent of the total population this year, to achieve herd immunity.

The Department of Health (DOH) of the Philippines reported 2,163 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, the highest in more than two months in the Southeast Asian country.

The Philipinnes has determined its views towards the actions of its "more powerful" neighbour - and it's not Japan - on the issue of territorial waters based on its own sovereign rights without the need for backing by any other nation. Several other SE Asian countries have done likewise, and India has maintained a similar stance over land dispute issues.

Perhaps this will help folks to comprehend that the Philippines are ready to manage their own affairs with its neighbours without uncle Sam extending them endless years of being told when to be happy on their own free will...

Just for a moment, what would be your reaction if someone more powerful would tell you who your friends ought to be.

Thanks for the history lesson. Could you describe which nations the Philippines has significant issues with regarding territorial waters today?

I don't blame him at all.

First, the Spanish colonial period from (1565-1898)

Second, the United States colonial rule over the Philippines, its largest overseas colony, between 1899 and 1946. When U.S. troops fired on Philippine troops in February 1899, the Philippine-American War erupted.
In the Treaty of Paris, Spain sells the Philippines for $ 20 million settlement to the US. Philippine representatives are not involved in these negotiations.

Third, the Japanese occupation of the Philippines between 1942 and 1945.

This man of sense and worldly knowledge is not so keen on other countries encroaching into Filipino territorial waters.

A man with sense and world knowlede.

Some 41 millions received the jab internationally. Many leader's took the first inoculation.

Slowly but steadily, folks all over the planet do realize which vaccine to take.

Once again, thousands of years in medical leadership will override ill guided western media dominance. A dominance to keep charge in financial terms, in my opinion .. not people's health.

Sad but true; again, that's my opinion.

China's companies use the tried and trusted route of inactivated virus. As it's the virus itself but inactivated it should be the most effective and as long as they've done their job properly inactivating it (which they appear to have done) then it should be the safest too.

Thanks to Duterte!
