While it is a good thing to not waste food, what about clothes? It is such a pity that many people keep buying new clothes when the old clothes are still wearable and quite new. They discard used clothings that are still in good condition just to buy new ones. For years, this practice has given rise to unwanted clothes that are difficult to get rid of. So these clothes get burned. It is such a waste of material and effort to produce them. People must learn to live simply inorder to avoid waste in all manner of life.
The sale of used clothing is forbidden in most Chinese cities. It is seen as unhygienic and generally the cost of new clothes of non high fashion brands is not that much more expensive e.g. 10 rmb for a second hand shirt, 50 rmb for a new one. There is also the prevalent Chinese superstition that old clothes may have belonged to a dead person and so are undesirable for this reason. People also want to "keep face" by showing off their new clothes, as in cities such as Wnzhou, rather than be 'caught' wearing second hand items.
If people can differentiate between what is functional and fashion, it would be easier to sort out and prioritise function first. That would lead to efficiency and productivity. For example, clothes should be functional and less about fashion.
Waste is A SIN!
Affluence does not mean to be thirfty but being able to utilize any resource to its best without waste.
It should not be a burden to society or productivity but wise to raise standard of living without raise cost of living!
It is DIFFICULT! That is where the challenge is!
Guess im bit old-fashioned person coz i dislike any kind of waste - food, clothes, money or even unnecessary misuse of passion & affection in life. Why should we waste things rather than making good use of stuff properly in the right place? I sometimes feel guilty of myself waste lots of time looking at mobile or thinking of useless things, which is not good or wise too lol~🤭🤨
