The Chinese banking sector is still dominated by 'China's bog four', which results in poor service quality. It's time to break the monopoly and give room to private banking. But easier said than done. Can the government easily give up its monopoly in banking sectors?

There are other out there such as China Citic but they are very limited in where they have branches so this restricts choice.

I have an HSBC account as I am an HSBC shareholder, the problem in China is that once you are outside the major cities the branches are non existent.

I agree that there is a lack of flexibility and no use of common sense, this is inbread in most Chinese from an early age.

The bank on China in the UK has my first and second names transposed on all their paperwork, however I am usually able to get what I want when I want by using a smile and a bit of the old charm, pity that does not work in Shanghai!
