Why does China if it is so powerful does not export rice? it only imports rice.

That's actually a very funny situation. China has cheap labour but not much capital, so farmers can't afford expensive farm machinery. The US have expensive labour, but cheap capital, so farmers can easily get credits for buying farm machinery.

So labour-intensive plants, like corn, are produced in China and exported to the US, whilst rice, that can be harvested and processed by modern farm machines easily, is planted in the US and exported to China!

So salary and interest rate differences are much higher than the costs of transporting goods over the oceans.
