3. Massive quake hits Japan


A photo taken on March 11 shows the quake-triggered tsunami hitting northeast coast of Japan. Japan's earthquake and tsunami caused up to 235 billion U.S. dollars in damage and a temporary impact on the economic growth of Japan and the region, the World Bank said in a report released March 21.

4. Eurozone debt crisis

5. Libya's civil war

9. Palestine bids for UN membership
