...providing step by step increment of salaries of service workers in Yangtze Delta.

This mainly relate to my visit to Shanghai, Nanjing, Suchou and Hangzhou a couple of year back.
No doubt, the cities centres were clean and tidy.

but i noticed that homes empty in apartment near city centres.
i notice small grocery stalls, with terrible small product count....
this indicates low income households.

(and yes, i knew i was being watched by "local government officials", especially acute in Nanjing, Suchou......
include, yes, freshly repainted hotel rooms in old locations etc......in Nanjing, police cars appeared shortly after  i was talking on the phone about lack of police patrols!  ha ha ha)

Why not consider increasing salaries for LOCAL WORKING RESIDENT in Hangzhou, Suchou, Nanjing.
This will increase purchasing power of the people.
(Pearl River Delta is quite active in encouraging increases in salaries of working resident to improve the market place).

GD,

Somewhere else you said that your last visit to China was in 2001. This was eight years ago. Eight years in China means more changes than one full generation elsewhere. Really, you cannot compare present day China with the year 2001. Time for you to go there again.

i think I visited in 2007. ( i refered to my assistant who arranged my flight there)

It's good to make visits, you know the real situation of the area's economy!

It could benefit the people more, if salary increases can be implemented to government officials in stages.
then city service personels (low cost migrant workers is needed for the exports, and China's forex reserves)
this will improve the market conditions.

why not you make a visit, and go to the local housing area,
look at the grocery stalls.....
and look at the condition of the food stalls....

yes, yes, very nice buidlings.....but people are not consuming, maybe low salaries?

I wanted to visit those regions but condition not good for me, made me worried.

hey!

I see figures but not the actual condition.
but when i visit Guangdong, even in rural regions, the neighbourhood stores were full of produce!
and people are eating like they do in Malaya, Hong Kong and Singapore.

I want to visit Sichuan, Central China.

Hey! In Beijing the conditions are much better, even in Inner Mongolia due to high wages working there in the mines, in the electricity plants.

and you know me, i say what i see.....

But a banker mention to me....

....in a meeting a few days back mentioned, maybe all the high wage workers in Zhejiang, Jiangsu lives in the suburban region.

so, i cannot really be too sure.
afterall, lifestyle is different in Hangzhou compared Guangzhou.

but it felt strange to have a different feel from Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Malaya and Singapore.
