Xiong Binqi and Robert both are aliens talking about how children acquire a second language; Xiong ...

By someone accounts, many Chinese kids start learning English at an early age , say, before five years old. And their Chinese parents are content to send their kids to  sought-after  English training schools to be taught by  foreign teachers at ages raning from ten to fiften, albeit the cost of attending such English classes is still high for many Chinese families. Case in point: a Chinese girl told me that her family had to fork over 2000 yuan for one-month training session.

Yet at the heart of the issue is the quality of such training sessions. I have been told that the girl in question simply spent one month reciting  English expressions or  slang terms her Chinese teachers had found in American sitcoms or movies. Her teachers reportedly told her that it's critical for Chinese students to be able to talk like characters in such Hollywood movies.  Thus,  they have to learn  the English expressions they find in these movies.

I beg to differ. Granted, a foreign English learner has to set out his or her  stall to learn how to talk like a native speaker. Yet there is no warrant for the assumption that a Chinese student could learn English by learning more slang terms from such American movies as claimed by some Chinese teachers.

I don't think American companies would hire you  simply because you are someone talking like a hoodlum or tearaway like robert.

Thank you.

Such whining by a western propagandist ghost proves my point.

When is your first novel  titled Dens of Crooks coming out? I hear it's based on your own personal life. A chiseller like you must have had  a lot of experience.

Such faking exercises / discoveries of bogus foreign lingo teachers in China should have been aired  ...

What this exercise shows is how morally bankrupt China is. Cheating is ingrained in the national soul. It is promoted by the rulers. Those who believe the fabrication of documents is confined to forging foreign diplomas of foreign job applicants are uninformed. Even the staid CHINA DAILY has carried reports of how Chinese pupils cheat in final exams and in college admission exams.

The whole nation learns cheating through their Chinese teachers.

There is a clash between civilisations, namely the oldest in the world (The West) and the next that wants to live longer than the West, i.e. China: The former have accumulated language learning wisdom over millennia, the latter has only recently started to learn foreign tongues, and this with very mixed or modest results.

When it comes to kindergarten teaching, the Chinese think a kindergarten is just a school albeit for children who have not learnt to read and write yet.

A kindergarten is not a school. This is a fact that has yet to sink into the Chinese mind. In a kindergarten, the childen learn first of all to socialise. Their mother tongue is still unformed.

But at this age their mind is unburdened by bias and preconceived thoughts. They can learn the basis of any language and of several languages simultaneously without memorising things or doing homework.

Hardly any of them speak or understand C ...

Caucasian teachers don't need paper qualifications,  they qualfy via the color of their skin, which Chinese parents and students love very much.

Simple answer to your question, because they are all white, despite not being native English speakers!  The color of their skin matters more to the Chinese than their Englih language skill!
