How do you feel about your trade school? Are you lack of student-source?
In China we had been t ...
Our trade schools are OK.
We need people trained in the trades, welding, pipe fitting, plumber, carpenter, mechanics.
Some students start in High School and others start after grade 12 yet others as adults.
Anger is an acid that can do more harm to the vessel in which it is stored than to anything on which it is poured. Mark Twain
All students in a school aim at a certain job in the society.
Do you mean those who are not in the vocational education institutes you refer to have their education for fun only?
Even a vocational student cannot ensure he will do or have the job as he is trained.
China's problem is that the authority has merged two different systems into one, with vocational education at the lower rung of the ladder, so parents would not like their children to be vocational students which have a low status despite a high pay.
In Australia you could do a two year tech course in welding and make more money than a highschool/primary worker/teacher or social worker that had to study at uni for four years. And most tradies can earn more than university educated teachers and social workers. But nobody wants to be a tradie these days because capitalists make fun of them. Call them 'Big Chief' and what-not in The WSJ family The Australian newspaper and what-not. Capitalists make fun of tradies so nobody wants to be one. They do want to be called 'tradies' either - they want to be known as trade professionals like how our lawyers doctors and what not call themselves professionals here. They think that tradie has become a derogatory term and they are correct. And this proves my point that capitalist upward mobility culture is all wrong. We should encourage the working class to be proud not ashamed. We need working class people. Everyone can't earn top dollar and do the easy high paid work like a lawyer/doctor etc.
With Americans you don't know what they are talking about because they allow vocational trained people to say that they have a "college" educate. It would be a lot less confusing if Americans said university for university. In Australia you go to uni and that gets you a university education - or you go to a 'tech college' to learn a trade - or learn how to be a hair dresser or beautician or whatever low paying job. Also - a lot of my friends as a teenager went to a Catholic College in highschool. They called it a college. Going back to the college. Not a university. Why do Americans call university college anyway? It is very confusing.
But yeah - Americans let vocational trained Americans claim they have a college education. Some fat black guy gets killed by a cop and family says how he was such a good person and going to college to get an education ,- you look into it and he was just doing vocational training - not attending a university.
By using so-called American-English and copying the way Americans speak English you Chinese promote US cultural hegemony. Which is ridiculously stupid. England is a pissant nation now and England cultural hegemony is no threat to China - England no superpower - so why on earth would Chinese choose to use American-English rather than actual English? Why use American terms rather than English ones? It makes no sense unless you are trying to promote US cultural hegemony. This is important.
